Mughis, Qazi
   A resident of Bayana who had access to and con-versed with 'Ala al-Din Khalji (1296-1316) in private. To 'Ala al-Din's reported query as to how the Islamic shariah defined the status of Hindus in the Delhi sultanate, Qazi Mughis stated that according to the Hanafi school they were to be treated as protected people (zimma).
